Doors

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Let’s think back to a time that we
metaphorically slammed the door on a new idea or a thought - either our own or
someone else’s. What would happen if we instead chose to leave the door open - a
quiet declaration of trust, curiosity, and humility? To leave the door open in our thinking
is to admit that we don’t know everything and that new ideas may enter. An open mind,
like an open doorway, invites fresh air into a stuffy room—it allows conversations to
pass through, differences to be explored, and growth to take root. The simple image of
a door ajar suggests possibility: someone may step in, or we may step out, curious to
what we may encounter. Scripture uses the metaphor of a door in several places. In
Revelations 3:20 Jesus says, “I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice
and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” He is
saying he wants to be in relationship with each one of us, but we must open the door to
him. This week let’s examine the doors we slam shut, why we chose to do that, and
then consider opening the door - even a crack. To inspire you, in the comments are
photos of artwork of beautiful doors seen in downtown Tipp City. The local artist is Mike
Nygren.
And ladies and teen girls, we have a new date, May 2, for Girls Night Out at the
Exchange. Check out the flyer in the comments. Live the way you want to be
remembered!
