Words to SPARK your Heart-Song – Episode #268

Withdraw

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Sometimes it’s necessary to slow
down in life, to not keep striving to move ahead. Some of us are so programmed to
keep moving forward that we cannot imagine slowing or withdrawing.
Jesus is a beautiful example to us of knowing the importance of taking a step back and
of separating himself from others. There are at least nine scriptures that tell us he
withdrew by himself to pray. The key for Jesus, and those of us who follow him, is the
prayer time, the time alone with the Lord. All of us, though, can also benefit greatly from
consistently removing ourselves from the noise and clutter of how we typically live life.
Many sounds, requests, demands, and responsibilities compete for our attention.
Separating ourselves to a quiet place for prayer and examination of how we’re living,
brings peace, strength to make any changes necessary, acceptance of things we
cannot change, and inspiration to live how we’re called.
Time can feel short and we may feel we must keep going, striving for bigger and better.
That’s a lie. We’ll not only be more productive with a time of retreat built in, our spirits
will become stronger, calmer, and able to sustain us during times of trouble. Life will
have more clarity.
You’re invited to join us at Heart-Song on Thursday, February 19 at 6pm to create your
own Life Map, an interactive process that helps you look at your life turns and the
impact they have had on who you have become and who you want to be. This
meaningful guided exercise is affirming to you and reminds you to live the way you want
to be remembered. To register, look for the link in the comments.
