Eat Frog
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. This past week I shared with my
husband, Mark, that I had so many things to do, but I didn’t feel like doing any of them.
He asked if I wanted to “eat frog.” I just looked at him and we laughed. He said “eating
frog” is when you have things you need to do, but have low motivation. You start with
one “to do” that you dislike like the most, then to the next and the next, getting the ones
that bother you the most out of the way until you have accomplished all that you wanted
to. I have used this good strategy many times, but I sure didn’t know it was called “eat
frog.”
More importantly I decided to check out Scripture for encouragement and motivation.
Galatians 6:4-5 says, “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the
satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.
For we are each responsible for our own conduct.” Colossians 3:23 says, “Work willingly
at what you do, as though you were working for the Lord, rather than for people.”
These verses are encouraging and are based in love. Others may someday look to us
for help with motivation. When they do, with a big smile suggest “eat frog,” and live the
way you want to be remembered. You can find the verses in the comments! See you
next week.
