Words to SPARK your Heart-Song from our co-founder Sherry Douglas.

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. On May 6th, we posted a quote by Dwayne Reed, an educator. His quote says, “My hope is that our new normal, today, exposes what was wrong with our old normal, yesterday, and sets us up for a better normal, tomorrow.” I do not know Mr. Reed, but I like what he has to say.
With the pandemic, each of us have had our own battles to fight – depression, lack of basic needs, loneliness, boredom, five people using one computer, and parents trying to work from home with kids of all ages just being kids. I know you can readily add to this list.
None of us knows what the future holds, but Mr. Reed’s quote gives us something to consider. Because we’ve been in such a unique situation, it becomes meaningful and important to make the best use of the time we have. Listen to the quote one more time, “My hope is that our new normal, today, exposes what was wrong with our old normal, yesterday, and sets us up for a better normal, tomorrow.” This is an opportunity to live today knowing we’ll never have the chance to do it again, take a look backward at yesterday, at what we want to change, and to create a better normal for tomorrow.
If you’re able, grab a pen and jot down this question to focus upon this week:
By looking at your new normal, today, and your old normal, yesterday, what does your better normal look like tomorrow?
In Revelation 1:8, God says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I am the God who is, and who was, and who will come. I am the Mighty One.” Our God is telling us that as the Mighty One, because he is always present, he knows all about our todays, yesterdays, and tomorrows. Let’s seek his wisdom by exploring the days of our lives, what is, what was, and what will come. There’s no better person in whom to trust.
This is the Word of the Lord. See you next week.
