Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. The word “story” has become frequently used when speaking of someone’s life – the life they have lived or the experiences they have faced. This past weekend, I had the privilege of gathering with fellow high school alumni for a class reunion. We were able to catch up on one another’s stories, our life experiences we have faced or are facing. Often, there was catching up with lots of laughter remembering “the good old days.” And occasionally, there was a gem of a conversation, that if you were willing to dig in, deeper heartfelt discussion took place.

Senior pastor, Andy Stanley, posted this quote on social media, “Every decision you make becomes a permanent part of your story. Write a story worth telling.” As long as we have breath, our story is continuing. There are chapters within our stories we are proud of and share readily. We also have chapters within our stories we prefer are not known or remembered. But all of the chapters make us who we are. It’s never too late to share with others what we have learned as we have lived life. It’s never too late to redeem a chapter by adding more to it or giving it a different ending.

Psalm 90:12 says, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” We can get so caught up living the days of our stories, we forget we have a limited number of them. This scripture indicates however, we can learn to embrace each day and as a result receive a heart of wisdom. Wisdom brings knowledge, insight, understanding, and love. This year, month, week, and especially today…what story are you writing? Not every chapter is pleasant…some are downright unfair and horrible…but we are in charge of writing the ending. Write a story worth telling. Live the way you want to be remembered.

See you next week.
