Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Recently, we’ve had a lot of rain. The farm fields are doing well, our lawns are various shades of beautiful green, and people are talking about their gorgeous flowers. Rain is good for many things.

But, what about us? Is rain good for you and me? My husband, Mark, told me he saw our neighbor boy and his dad standing in their garage looking out into the rain. They chatted a few moments and then the boy ran right out into it. He tilted his face up, raised his arms and spun in circles! I can imagine he looked carefree with a smile upon his face. He didn’t mind the rain hitting him or soaking his clothes. He was enjoying the unexpected moment; he grabbed hold of the opportunity and literally ran for it.

In the meantime, what do you think his dad was doing? Most likely you have it right in your mind. Mark said he dashed for the car with his head down trying to minimize the amount of rain coming in contact with his body. He obviously didn’t want to get wet, nor spin in circles enjoying it. You and I are probably like that, too. Our plan is in place, we keep our heads down, rushing, with no room for unexpected showers.

There’s a popular saying you’ve probably heard before. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storms to pass…it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Does it sound inviting to you to be more like the boy? To welcome unexpected opportunities? To be flexible and spontaneous? Huge kudos to dad for allowing and encouraging his son to dance in the rain!

I hope you and I can take the opportunities extended to us; that we’ll be flexible, spontaneous, and laugh like fools when rain hits our faces.

Thanks for being here. Come rain or shine, I’ll see you next week.
