Hi everyone! I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. This past week brought concern and joy to our family. Concern for a precious little one who has had severe health issues and thanksgiving in seeing smiles, energy and hope for continuous improvement. Joy in seeing children, grandchildren, and extended family that haven’t gathered for a while. Joy in long meaningful conversations and loud bursts of laughter. Thanksgiving for the simple pleasure of relationships and love that extends through thick and thin.
What about you? What has brought you concern and joy this week? What have you chosen to do with the concern you have, in whatever situation you find yourself? How did you celebrate the joy you experienced?
In the New Testament of the Bible, Romans 15:13 addresses both of these emotions, concern and joy. It says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” It comes down to trust. As we trust in God, he fills us with joy and peace which then brings us so much hope it’s overflowing in our spirits, attitudes and how we view what’s happening in our lives. Sometimes life gets so busy or complicated, we may fail to acknowledge the varied feelings we have in everyday life. Let’s take time this week to look for and recognize our emotions of concern and joy. Let’s then remember and trust in our God who offers us peace and joy and fills us to overflowing with hope. And hope is a beautiful thing.
Live the way you want to be remembered. See you next week.
