Hi everyone. This is Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Many of us struggle to find purpose and meaning in life. Last week we discussed living a life of purpose along with two tips to keep us moving in that direction. You were asked to name activities that are important to you and bring you joy or fulfillment. You were also asked to explore the ways you can help someone by offering a skill, time, money, or encouragement.

Living a life of purpose may also require being brave. You have already exhibited bravery within many parts of your life. Adopting this way of living may mean bravery is needed even more. You may disappoint people in the choices you make. You may also have to create new habits to make space for living intentionally. Changes in life often require courage. Are you willing to step outside of your comfort zone to live a meaningful life?

A life of purpose may also beg for a life of simplicity. Only you can determine and identify what a life of simplicity will look like for you. Accumulating wealth and items is not what brings us fulfillment. To know this truth, we only need to listen to what dying people have to say. Many say that if they had life to live over, they would invest more of their time in people they love and activities that bettered the lives of others. They say they would spend less time at work and not worry so much about the gathering of belongings. Living simply, whatever that means for you, gives us the freedom to devote more of ourselves to what matters most to us – people and activities that bring us joy and fulfillment.

As we did last week, let’s look at Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  This verse assures us that God is our Creator and he is walking ahead making preparations for our good works. Living a meaningful life means joining him. Live the way you want to be remembered! See you next week.
