Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. A friend shared with me recently that she needs to figure out how to get things done that impact and affect her EVERYDAY LIFE.  Her example was cleaning her oven. She keeps forgetting to do it, but every time she uses her oven, she’s reminded. We all have things like this.

Here’s an old-school idea that may help us. As you think of things that need accomplished to make EVERYDAY LIFE easier or more enjoyable, jot them down. Before bed or early the next morning start by writing “to dos” for the day that are non-negotiable and the time you will be busy. Examples of non-negotiables are doctor appointments, working, or attending your child’s games – items you MUST accomplish. Next, in between the non-negotiables, choose and write one or two of the tasks you recorded that will make life easier. This allows you to edit the entries, move them to the next day, or even delete them. If you accomplish these tasks, in addition to making life easier, they may also make you more effective, efficient, and most likely improve your mood. My friend’s example of cleaning her oven is a good one. Cleaning the oven will make cooking dinner a more pleasant experience, however, if she doesn’t do it, life goes on and she can still cook. If she cleans the oven, it won’t smoke, the house won’t smell, and she will no longer be frustrated. All stress reducers.

What small things will improve your everyday life? They can often be the ticket to less stress, and our bodies, spirits, and minds will benefit. Matthew 6:34 says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” We all understand this premise. Let’s choose not to carry any worries or stressors from today that we can resolve. If we find a day where we can fit in some items from our everyday “to dos,” and in the process it keeps us from worrying about tomorrow, it’s a win-win! Live the way you want to be remembered! See you next week.
