Hi everyone! I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Last week we looked at Step 3: Revise, which encourages us to review our roles and relationships to determine what is working and what needs to change. Today we are moving on to Step 4 of Life Story Editing, Create Margin. We all have choices in the direction our lives go, even during Covid-19, and our hope is that this resource helps your heart and mind work together, connecting you with the essence of you who are, who God created you to be.
Create Margin is about taking some deep breaths and reviewing the day we just lived. There may be some things that come to mind about how we treated someone or handled a situation in a hurtful manner, and if so, we need to take care of those things. We also want and need to renew and restore our spirits by recalling the goodness of the day. By focusing on the goodness of what we just lived, we are encouraged to create and look for the goodness the next day.
Many of us are finding it difficult to focus while spending so much time at home. To help with this, as much as possible live the routine you lived before the Corona Virus. Go to bed and get up at about the same time. Get dressed. Eat a healthy breakfast. Set a few objectives to complete that day. Start with the one that is the most important, not the most urgent. Engage in activities you enjoy. Limit your social media and TV. Call a friend you haven’t spoken to for a while. If you and I do these things, and please know these reminders are for me, too, at the end of the day, when we take time to renew, breathe, and restore our spirits, we are better equipped to live the life story we truly want.
Please email MyHeartSongInc@gmail.com to receive your free copy of Step 4: Create Margin of Life Story Editing. If you haven’t received the other Steps, we’ll send those also. We look forward to hearing from you.
The Scripture I want to leave with you today is Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and RENEW a steadfast spirit within me.” May this become our prayer as we make time and space for breaks, mistakes, and re-takes. If we breathe in and out with this Scripture, our spirits will be ready to meet the new day head-on, not being perfect, but knowing our God is active in our lives, bringing us renewal. This is the word of the Lord. See you next time.
