Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. During last week’s message we discussed feeling “stuck.” Let’s dig a little deeper.

Feeling stuck in life may feel similar to being stuck in traffic. We’re not in control. We have to wait our turn to move; maybe even wait for someone else to give the go ahead. As an alternative we may choose to look for the next exit to take to help us keep moving. We need to be careful though, because some exits end up creating longer travel time, or taking us on back roads in which we get turned around.

Thankfully, there are multiple routes we can take to manage the load of feeling stuck. We can be with other people we enjoy; people that give positive vibes. Isolation allows our brains to keep churning the same thoughts around and around. Let’s choose wisely who we share our “stuck” situation with, though. Telling multiple people may only make us more confused or lost – like taking a wrong exit when we’re stuck in traffic.

We can do activities we enjoy, even when we don’t feel like it. Being active engages our brains in things beyond our “stuck” conditions.

We can read positive books! Reading allows us to separate ourselves from our own situations for a short time and encourages us to think outside our own circumstances. It’s like being on someone else’s journey for a while.

Writing can help clarify our emotions. When we express ourselves through writing, we come to a deeper understanding of not only WHAT we’re feeling, but WHY we’re feeling it. The better we understand ourselves, the better decisions we make. We may then be able to enter into the land of our next possibilities.

And, most importantly, let’s keep our eyes on the Lord. In Psalm 32:8, the Lord says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will advise you with My eye upon you.” There’s no better instruction or advice than the Lord’s. We keep our eyes on him & he keeps his eyes on us. What a wonderful and valuable relationship.

When you’re feeling stuck, try one of these routes to help ease your mind. Let’s live the way we want to be remembered! See you next week.
