Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Recently we posted a quote by an unknown author that says, “Dead last is greater than did not finish which trumps did not start.” Meaning…finishing last is better than not finishing, which is a lot better than not ever starting. Do you have something in your life that you’ve put off starting? Me, too. There is a myriad of reasons that keep our feet in place. We may even feel as though we do not know HOW to start.
Start by starting. It’s pretty simple. We take one single step. Then we take the next one, and then the next. The steps may be slow; we may have setbacks, and have to start again. Or, the steps we take may start fast, and turn into running. Whatever is in our hearts and minds to start, and the approach we take to start, will be different from others.
For that reason alone, let’s not compare our starting and our journey with anyone else’s. Comparison kills the dream and the momentum to keep us going. Comparison cheapens the ambition you’ve set in motion. Let’s just agree now ~ comparison has no place in starting something new.
Isaiah 40:31 states, “…those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Initially, this may sound as though we won’t get weary or tired after we’ve started something new, whether we’re running or walking. However, we all are quite aware that we do grow tired. We wouldn’t need renewed if we didn’t. The key is the HOPE of the Lord is what restores us and gives us energy to keep going when weariness sets in. Start by starting. Take a step and another. Keep hoping in the Lord and he will renew your strength. Soar on wings like eagles. This is the Word of the Lord.
