Words to SPARK your Heart-Song from our co-founder Sherry Douglas.

Hi everyone! I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Along with a new year often comes thinking and dreaming about who we can become. One simple way to express your thoughts and dreams is by choosing one word to focus upon for the year.

By choosing one word, you are committing to adjust your approach to how you’re living. For example, my one word for 2020 was Sacred. I wanted to consistently remind myself that each individual is made in the image of God, thus sacred. This helped me keep front and center how God views others, not how others view others.

Your one word is a filter for how you want to live. Amazingly, you can choose to view all situations through your one word.

If you’ve not chosen a focus word before, it can feel either too simple to make a difference or too overwhelming to narrow all your thoughts and dreams. There are different approaches to select a focus word. If you’re a person of faith, pray. Ask the Lord to direct your thoughts to one word that will help you be a better version of yourself. Another approach is to look over lists of words, such as what is in the comments below. Narrow the list to a few that reflect who you want to become and then select ONLY ONE. By having only one word, your mind can lock onto it and make connections to situations in your life. Another approach is to use the MyIntent.org link below or one similar. You answer questions and the site then suggests several words. Select one.

Be sure to write your word on something and place it where you’ll see it often. Last year Mark and I wrote our words on river rocks that are on our kitchen counter.

Would you like to receive a COMPLIMENTARY gift? The first 20 people who share their 2021 words in the comments below will receive a keychain made just for you with your one word engraved on it. By sharing, you may also inspire someone else! Live the way you want to be remembered! Happy New Year!
