Words to SPARK your Heart-Song from our co-founder Sherry Douglas.

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Our disappointments are distinctive, but we all experience them. Yours are as valid, devastating and excruciating to you as mine are to me. Disappointments tend to linger, jabbing our hearts, even though we intend to walk away from them. When our hopes and anticipations have been dashed, it’s natural to feel sad and disappointed.

Is your heart, like mine, heavy with disappointment? Let’s remember it’s ok to grieve. It’s ok to be sad, mourning the difference between our hopes and our current realities. Let’s do whatever it is that helps release the disappointment we’re feeling. Maybe it’s walking in nature, talking with a friend, or sitting quietly enjoying the lit Christmas tree. Maybe it’s talking with the Lord and telling him how you’re feeling.

This past week was the beginning of the Advent season which is preparation for the coming of Jesus. The season is divided into four themes, with the first being HOPE. Psalm 34:18 gives us much hope. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” This means the Lord is walking with those of us with broken hearts and he’s in the business of healing our crushed spirits. Isn’t this fact refreshing and rejuvenating?

While the Lord is at work IN us, let’s look for the good going on AROUND us. Let’s find it, grab on with both hands, and be glad. This is the Word of the Lord. Live the way you want to be remembered. Thanks for being here. See you next week.
