Hi everyone! I’m Sherry Douglas, co-founder of Heart-Song.

Recently, the word “story” has become quite a buzz word. Just yesterday we celebrated the most important story of all time, the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus definitely has a matchless story, yet, we all have distinctive life stories that form us into who we are today.

We discussed last week to live a meaningful life story may include a process of self-reflection, something many of us tend to avoid. A few years ago, Heart-Song created a resource called, Life Story Editing. This helps you edit your choices to get to the life story you truly want to live.

Step 1 of Life Story Editing is to Cut. We call it The Not-To-Do List. This is where you’ll determine if there are activities, bad habits, or situations that are not enhancing your growth as the person you desire to be. You will examine how you’ve been living life, to determine what needs to be trimmed. For example, have you taken on other people’s responsibilities? This may be due to a variety of reasons, but whatever the reason, most of us have shifted SOMETHING from someone else’s plate to our plate where it doesn’t belong.

It’s exciting for us at Heart-Song to deliver directly to your inbox the Life Story Editing description and Step 1: The Not-To-Do List. Please contact us at MyHeartSongInc@gmail.com and we’ll send them to you right away. This resource may help you think differently than you normally do; it may even move you out of your comfort zone.

No one can tell you what you need to cut. Isn’t that a relief? It’s personal and will be different person-to-person. Take time to pray and ask the Lord to direct your thoughts and decisions. Philippians 1:6 tells us we can be confident of this, that he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion. I hope that is an encouragement to you. The Lord has already started a good work in you and he’s eager to complete it. Our part is to seek him for direction on editing our lives. This is the word of the Lord. See you next time!
