Play
I have a question for you today! When did you last set aside time for play? I’m Sherry
Douglas with Heart-Song and I’ve been thinking about play simply because it’s time I
redefine what that looks like for me. Because of some physical issues, I’ve had to stop
doing activities I truly enjoyed. I hope to get back to them someday, but in the
meantime, what does “play” look like?
I know it brings refreshment to our hearts and minds. Often, life is full of responsibilities,
but play encourages us to pause from the routine things of life, take some deep breaths,
and experience the beauty of life. Play encourages joy—reminding us that life is not
only about our jobs and the many things we have to do, but also about celebration.
Ecclesiastes 3:13 says, “That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in
all their toil—this is the gift of God.” When we make space to explore and delight in the
world around us, we become more childlike. Play renews us, builds relationships, and
helps us appreciate the blessings God.
How do you play? Live the way you want to be remembered.
