Kids Lead Us

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Last week Mark and I had the three
youngest of our grandchildren stay with us for a few days. We refer to them as “the
littles,” but that nickname is going to have to change because time doesn’t stand still.
One of the activities we planned was to go to a local splash pad. Within minutes they
were playing with other children, calling to each other, encouraging and including one
another.
Kids have a special way of demonstrating unconditional love through their wholesome
hearts and authentic actions. They express delight without hesitation. Through simple
faith and trust, children model for us the kind of relationship the Lord yearns to have
with us. A relationship rooted in love, genuineness, and honesty. Our grandchildren’s
presence reminded us to find joy in living our everyday lives.
Isaiah 11:6 says, “And a little child shall lead them.” What a meaningful verse that
reminds us that children are not just learners, but leaders– used to demonstrate to us
how to live with peace, joy, faith, and trust. As adults, let’s be eager to allow them to
share their beautiful spirits with us. If you don’t have the opportunity to be with kids, find
a way to do so! Not only will you influence them, I can guarantee you their beautiful
hearts will make a huge impact on you, too!
