Trust
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. This past year has been an extremely hard
one for us with so much grief in several different kinds of situations. We’re so very thankful for
the relationship we have with the Lord that gives us the strength and comfort we need to keep
us grounded. We know His love endures forever.
Last night I was trying to read The Road Home, a novel by Kristin Harmel, but I was having
trouble staying focused. All of a sudden, though, I read something that caught my attention. A
character in the novel was telling another character how he managed to survive the death of
his wife. He said, “After she was gone, I needed the daily assurance that no matter how broken
I felt, the sun would still rise. So now I watch the sky to the east each morning as a reminder
that life continues, even when it doesn’t look the way we thought it would. Life continues, even
when we are powerless over the things that hurt us. Life continues, even when we can’t know
the future. God is with us in the sunrise, in that promise of a new day, in that reassurance of a
tomorrow.”
I hope you’ll listen to the words of this quote, or read them in the comments, several times to
let them sink deep within. They are simple, yet profound. They encourage us to look outside of
ourselves to appreciate God who is the only one who can give us the sunrise. He is the only one
who can give us a new day. He is the only one who can give us a tomorrow. Whatever we’re
going through – and we know that at some point we all have deep wounds – we can trust in the
Lord.
Live the way you want to be remembered.
