New Life

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Happy Easter! Yesterday, Christians
around the world celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. Along with that beautiful
celebration and Spring, comes the thought of new life. All we have to do is look around
us to see flowers blooming and trees budding. We’ve had two rabbit nests in our yard
with several babies. We’ve seen robins that will soon lay their eggs. It’s such a
wonderful time of the year. Let’s allow the new life around us to initiate our thinking:
What will spring up in us during this next season?
Has life ever felt like you’re living in a rut or spinning your wheels, meaning each day
resembles one another so much it’s hard to tell them apart? Life can be like that for a
while before we even recognize it. We may find ourselves sighing a lot, saying things
like, “I wish…,” or just dreading to get out of bed in the mornings. Those are signs that
we have a need of new life and something to spring up inside of us!
The Lord addresses this in Isaiah 43:19. He says, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it
springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in
the wasteland.” New things…new life…new opportunities springing up for us and in us!
Whether you are a person of faith or not, life can be renewed with hope while we wait
and watch.
