Beauty
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. I wrote my most recent Life Compass
Statement a few years ago. It still works for me and is an excellent reminder for me.
It says, “Beauty…that will be my life.” I had become aware that I EASILY identified situations or
even people I considered negative or detrimental. But I also knew it was time to EASILY identify
the beauty in situations, settings, or people. It was time, and is still time, to focus on the
positive and to literally look for the goodness, the beauty, that surrounds me.
“Beauty…that will be my life,” encourages me to look below the surface of a situation. It helps
me to appreciate what each person brings to a group, a setting, or to me personally. Of course,
there are things that happen or words that are said that are not beautiful, but the statement
reminds me to look deeper, to seek one thing that sets the person apart, one thing that
demonstrates their beauty. It also reminds me to be the beauty someone else can experience.
What words am I putting out into the world? Are love and kindness seen in my everyday living?
Of course, there are days, I would have to answer “no,” but the statement draws me back to
my intention. One of my core beliefs I learned from Scripture is that ALL people are created in
God’s image. God is beauty. And God is good.
“Beauty…that will be my life.” I look for it, and I attempt to offer it.
Live the way you want to be remembered. I hope you will consider creating a Life Compass
Statement. It can be lifechanging. Contact me so we can get you scheduled.
