Fear is a Liar
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Recently a friend had a decision to make, but she was having a difficult time doing so. I asked her, “What is the desire of your heart?” She identified that she couldn’t answer because she was afraid to make a mistake.
Fear gets in our way many times, doesn’t it? Somewhere in our personal experiences, we made mistakes and others contributed to us feeling humiliated, or we were never allowed to make mistakes without someone bailing us out so we didn’t suffer the consequences. Neither is helpful.
We all make mistakes in a lot of different ways, don’t we? They can be simple or life-altering. They can affect only us or there can be a ripple effect. We cannot live life without experiencing what some may call failure while others call it learning.
If we allow fear to keep us from making a decision, we will miss out on something important in life that we’re meant to do, either because we’re busy doing something different or we stayed with the status quo too long.
Zach Williams has a song called, “Fear is a Liar.” The chorus says:
Fear, he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear, he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
‘Cause fear, he is a liar.
Fear can take away from the beauty of our lives. However, we can be afraid, but choose to move forward anyway. That’s called courage. Take courage today.
Live the way you want to be remembered.
