Words to SPARK your Heart-Song – Episode #225

Serving Others

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter died on December 29th at the age of 100.  He served for one four-year term and many have criticized his time in office. To me, the meaningful legacy he leaves behind is his example of serving others for the 45 years following his presidency. He was frequently found on the job site of a Habitat for Humanity house build. Think about that: Jimmy didn’t show up to advance the work; he quietly showed up to DO the work. He truly embraced the role of serving others, a Scriptural foundation he took to heart.

The beginning of a year is often set aside to evaluate what we have accomplished in the past year and plan what we want to accomplish in the new year. What if, instead, we ask ourselves one simple question:

How can I serve others to impact them for good?

I will continue to lead Heart-Song, record videos, meet with others for them to create their Life Compass Statements, brainstorm through Idea Mapping, meet with teams, and participate in enneagram training and coaching.

How will you answer this question? If you share your thoughts in the comments, many will be encouraged! May we all be like Jimmy Carter - let’s live the way we want to be remembered!
