Do What You Can
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. I recently saw a quote by Liz Murray that I liked, but I didn’t know who she was. According to many articles and interviews that can be found if you search by her name, Liz is definitely inspiring. She was born into a home with two drug-addicted parents and was hungry most of the time. She didn’t attend school regularly and was in and out of foster homes. At the age of 15, after her mother died, she ended up homeless. At the age of 17, even in these ridiculously difficult circumstances, she decided to attend high school - when most students were soon to graduate. She hid her homelessness and graduated at the top of her class. Because she completed a general college scholarship questionnaire about obstacles she had to face, people became aware of her difficult journey. Loving people stepped forward to help her and she never again had to be concerned where she was to sleep.
Liz is now a motivational speaker and founder of Manifest Living, a company which offers training for those who want to live beyond their circumstances and want to make changes in their lives.
The “Liz” quote I saw is, “The problem may be huge, but your job is not to fix the entire problem. It’s to do what you can with what you have.” She can speak this quote with authenticity because this was her life. We have our own stories, but this quote applies to ALL of us. Let’s do what we can with what we have. Live the way you want to be remembered.
