Be Who You Are
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Recently I was encouraged by a friend to read Matthew 5:5 as it’s found in The Message. “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are – no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.” That’s a powerful concept! Let’s break it down to get a better grasp of what it means for you and me as we live our everyday lives. We all want to be blessed. To get there, this verse indicates that we have to be content with who we are. Contentment isn’t an excited kind of happy. Contentment is a state of satisfaction. It’s more like a peaceful ease of mind. So, to be blessed, we have to have an ease of mind about who we are. The last sentence of this verse is such a beautiful promise. If we can be at ease with who we are, we will have access to the most important aspects of life! We can’t try to take a shortcut or buy our way to contentment. That isn’t possible, but to become the “proud owners of everything that can’t be bought” requires something of us. To be content with just who we are takes some contemplative time – some time to come to terms with the essence of who we are at our core. To be honest with ourselves and celebrate who we are. To love ourselves. Live the way you want to be remembered!
Also remember to check out how to apply for our Dare to Dream Dollars award! It doesn’t take long to apply and it may be part of the way you celebrate who you are by supporting your neighborhood, an organization you value, or a new idea. The application is in the comments.
Another opportunity Heart-Song is offering is a mini-photo shoot on November 16. You’ll receive five unedited digital photos for a minimum donation of $30. The backgrounds are wintery themes. You can sign up on our Facebook page! See you next week!
