Legacy
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Recently I watched the movie,
One Life, starring Anthony Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins plays Nicky Winton, a man who
helped rescue over 600 children, mostly Jewish, from Czechoslovakia before the
Nazi occupation closed the borders. As a young man, Nicky became aware of
the children’s plight and decided he HAD to do something to help them. He
engaged his mother’s help along with many others. What an amazing legacy!
As I watched the film, I thought about the many people who have visited Heart-
Song to complete their Life Compass Statements. Through our conversations,
they are reminded of who they want to be which often then leads to what they
want to do. Mr. Winton knew in his heart and gut that he had to give as many
children possible an opportunity to leave their country to live with foster families
in the United States.
We won’t all have such a clear and life-altering calling, will we? The important
thing, though, is for us to respond to whoever we are meant to be and whatever
we are called to do. The impact may be in our families, neighborhoods, or spread
beyond our wildest imaginations. We all will impact many lives. It will look
different for each one of us because our experiences, interests, talents, and
expertise shapes us and how we serve those around us.
I invite you to contact me to schedule an appointment to create your Life
Compass Statement. Whether you know how you want to live or you are just
beginning to figure it out, a Life Compass Statement is an excellent foundation.
Live the way you want to be remembered!
