Back To School
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. A lot of children and teens are heading back
to school this week. It’s an exciting time of the year and typically causes students to feel full of
anticipation. As an adult, have you ever thought about those days and the way you felt? You
may be finished with school, but anticipation is fun. Two of my very favorite purchases that
reminds me of school starting are new markers and pens! The colors just make me happy.
Let’s think through some things we can do to recreate the positive feeling of a new school year.
Some people have told me they miss learning once they’re out of school. To keep your brain lit
up, learning can take place in a variety of ways. An easy way is to simply read more books. Local
workshops or classes and online courses are readily available and sometimes they’re even free.
Another part of the back-to-school anticipation is school clothes shopping. We can take a
couple of hours to clean out our closets and then a couple more to shop for a few pieces of
clothing using the pieces we liked and kept in our closets as the foundation for some new looks.
One of the favorite things of elementary school is recess. The kids love recess because it’s a
break and they get to move and laugh. What brings you happiness and gives you a break? We
can create our own kind of recess!
As adults, we can generate our own Back-to-School-type anticipation! We can even ask friends
to join us!
Live the way you want to be remembered!
