Give
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. On July 19th we had a post on Facebook of a quote by Anne Frank. She said, “No one has become poor by giving.” That’s a powerful statement, but even more powerful when you remember she was a child under extremely stressful circumstances when she wrote it.
Some of my wonderful memories are of giving from our abundance and sacrifice. We have been a part of groups in which we focused upon keeping our eyes and hearts open to serve others. One time we became aware of a family who had several children and then they gained custody of a relative’s kids. There was a total of nine children in an already crowded home, but the love flowed in and from it.
Our group was able to give to this mom and dad in several ways. We helped them complete projects in their home to help accommodate their bonus children. Additional bedrooms were created from the space they had along with some other much-needed updates. Some of the group gave from their abundance and some gave sacrificially, but none of us became poor by doing so. We actually enriched our lives.
I’m sure you have also experienced being enriched by giving to someone else. It’s good for us to remember these times so that when we see needs around us, we can respond with kindness and love.
Live the way you want to be remembered!
