Kindness
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. This past week my husband and I have experienced kindness by many. We’ve both been ill and friends and family have shown up for us. We’ve had meals delivered and received calls and text messages of offers to run errands and others of encouragement and prayers.
Sometimes we tend to underrate the value of kindness, but kindness is a foundational function of love and showing others they matter. Kind actions can be simple like pulling in your neighbor’s trash receptacles or offering to pick up something from the grocery. Kind actions can be a one-time deed like returning someone’s cart from the parking lot of a store. I know a person who writes notes of encouragement every week as part of her normal routine. That is kind! One person texted me and offered to do several specific things that she thought we may need. That is kind! I received a book from my lovely daughter. That is kind!
Galatians 6:10a says, “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone…” What does “doing good to everyone” look like for you? Because we are so unique, we’re all going to respond differently, but can you imagine the impact on our communities if we each looked for our opportunities to be kind? Let’s try it! Live the way you want to be remembered.
I’ve shared some of the ways I’ve experienced kindness recently. In the comments below, we’d love for you to share how you have, too.
