Words to SPARK your Heart-Song – Episode #187

March 3, 2024

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Have you identified heroes in your life? I have two older women that I claimed as my heroes decades ago. Last week I attended the celebration of life for one of them. Pauline was 94. And she wasn’t only MY hero, she was that to many people.

Pauline was one of the most giving, kindest people I’ve ever met. Her spirit was calm, her smile sweet, and her actions consistently displayed her love for people. She loved people with a heart of gratitude and grace. She was a servant of the God she loved dearly!

Pauline was well-known in our area not only for the love she had for others, but also as an amazing cook, especially a baker of pies! And her pies made their way into many hands simply as a token of love. Yes, the pies were good, but the love she had for the person receiving it, was extraordinary.

Our family experienced her generosity more than one time. I was on bed rest with our third child for a couple of months and Pauline brought us meals several times. Included with the meals were coupons to receive additional meals. She never stayed long, but would be sure to talk with our boys a short time and always included a pie or other baked good. Then, out she would go to bless someone else!

Pauline’s legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She passed her pie-baking skills on to some, but through all of them you can see the way she lived with her love shining brightly.

What is your legacy? Who are your heroes? Take time to write a note to one of them today. Most likely they’ll not know the impact they have had in your life. Let them know! Live the way you want to be remembered!
