Words to SPARK your Heart-Song – Episode #182

Warm Heart

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. With the cold weather recently, I’ve heard the saying, “Cold hands - warm heart.” We know what it means to have cold hands, but what does it mean to have warm hearts?

The first sentence of 1 Peter 1:22 says, “Love each other with a warm love that comes from the heart.” Not all of us are people of faith, but we can all take an inventory of how we love best. Are we compassionate? Kind? Patient? Are we helpful?

I saw a post on social media that said the person pulled up behind a car with a sign that said something like, “New driver learning a stick shift. Please be patient.” Seeing the sign automatically made him feel more patient, knowing the person was learning a new skill. He acknowledged that if the sign hadn’t been there, he would have most likely felt impatient and frustrated. People do not wear signs around their necks saying, “I live with constant anxiety.” “My mother died yesterday.” “My child is extremely ill.” “I just lost my job.” “I received a cancer diagnosis.” When we meet people face-to-face or find ourselves in a frustrating situation, what if we picture signs around their necks? What if we assume they’re going through a tough time, and they’re currently living the best they can?

Because of where we live, many of us will have cold hands for the next couple of months, but we can always have warm hearts.

Live the way you want to be remembered!
