Words to SPARK your Heart-Song from our co-founder Sherry Douglas.

Hi Everyone! I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. The other evening, my husband, Mark, and I watched a movie in the downstairs rec room. When he left the room for a few moments, I couldn’t find the pause button on the remote, which is normal for me, so I turned off the TV. When I did so, the entire room was clothed in darkness. I looked around for a few seconds and couldn’t see any light, not even a pinpoint. I hit the power button and immediately the TV had a single point of light. For the few seconds it took to power up, I again looked around and the darkness was significantly less! You’ve probably experienced something similar.

In Matthew 5:14 & 16, Jesus says to those who follow him, “You are the light of the world! A city on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before people that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

Let’s dare to let our light shine! Just as a room becomes brighter when you turn on more light, or a city on a hill becomes brighter and cannot be hidden, we can come together to make a brighter world, even on social media while we’re social distancing!

If each of us lets our light shine within our sphere of influence, the darkness will be significantly less. And the verse says there is a consequence: Others will see the good deeds and praise our Father. It isn’t about bringing our good deeds into the light…it’s all about the deeds bringing our Father praise.

Last week I shared the opportunity of a Life Compass Statement. Once you have created one, whether or not you are a person of faith, it continually reminds you of how you want to live, be remembered, and the way you want your light to shine.

For fun, in the comments below, share how you plan to let your light shine!

This is the Word of the Lord. Shine on, friends! Shine on! Thanks for being here. See you next week.
