Jump onto the gratitude train.
Hi everyone! Happy Thanksgiving! I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. A friend and I talked recently about the importance of being people of gratitude. It’s just too easy to allow critiques and complaints to become our norm – even to the point of not recognizing our negative mindset and being oblivious to the destruction it can cause.
There are some simple ways you and I can jump onto the gratitude train. We’ve talked before about keeping a simple gratitude journal. Jotting down some things we’re thankful for each day can set us in a positive direction. We can also create a gratitude jar. Daily every family member can write down what they’re grateful for and place the small piece of paper in the jar. Then, once a week the items of thanksgiving can be read and appreciated together.
We can also choose to express gratitude to others frequently. If we become intentional in doing this, before long, it will become our nature. Notes, letters, phone calls, and verbal words of appreciation will not only boost the other person’s spirit, it will also boost ours!
1 Thessalonians 5:18a says, “Give thanks in all circumstances.” I wish for you, friends, that during this time of celebrating Thanksgiving Day, we take it even further and create within ourselves an attitude of gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving!
Live the way you want to be remembered.
