Words to SPARK your Heart-Song from our co-founder Sherry Douglas.

Hi, everyone! I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. As many of you know, the weather in the Mid-West has been extremely hot. And what does heat sometimes bring out in people? You know it…being grumpy, grouchy, or short-tempered. I don’t know about you, but when I think social media comments can’t get any grumpier, someone proves me wrong. There are varied responses or a combination of responses we can have to these people and their posts. We can choose to stay off of social media sites, snooze those who are not being kind or scroll on by, or we can load our pages with good and kind images, comments, or songs. Let’s choose to bring joy to the world!

In the comment section below, you will find the song by Randy Newman, You’ve Got a Friend in Me from the Toy Story movie. It’s a song about the relationships among Andy, Buzz, and Woody. It speaks of being there with and for your pal no matter what, loving the person like no one else can, and sticking with them as the years go by. That’s called friendship.

Most of us want to have a good friend. And that’s awesome. But what about BEING a good friend? Proverbs 17:17a in The Message says, “Friends love through all kinds of weather…” Our nation is going through all kinds of weather right now, but the weather doesn’t cause a person to be grouchy or to be unkind to another person. That’s called a choice. Nor should the issue of wearing masks or not wearing masks. That’s called a choice. Nor should the fact that people have different beliefs or colors of skin cause us to be unkind. That’s called a choice. Instead, let’s BE good friends and love others through all kinds of weather! This is the Word of the Lord.

Let’s flood social media with loving words, images, art, and songs! We can post them below and post them to our pages when we share this video. Let’s all be able to sing, “you’ve got a friend in me.” Thanks for being here. See you next week.
