A lot of good things don’t get made because of too much thinking.
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Agnes Martin was an American abstract painter and was quoted as saying, “A lot of good things don’t get made because of too much thinking.” I relate to this because I spend time thinking about things I’d like to create, but don’t get to them. Are you like this, too? Your mind wanders and dreams, but you don’t take action?
Some ideas may seem too big, but that doesn’t have to keep us from being bold and brave enough to start. Ideas are just that…thoughts of what could be. They will start looking one way and end up another way, but are even better. We’ll never know, though, if we don’t take the plunge. Because Agnes was a painter, my mind automatically thought about the arts when I first read her quote. However, let’s stretch our minds to think beyond the arts.
Your idea or dream may seem too big for you to accomplish. You may have many reasons why it won’t work. I encourage you to take one step forward. It may be a baby step or a huge leap. Just start. Your idea or dream will most likely be transformed as you make progress.
Consider this Scripture from Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” We may feel weak or unprepared, but the Lord will direct us when we seek him. He gives us what we need. He is faithful and walks with us along the way.
And remember this…your idea or dream may not be just for you. When others see people step out to do something big or small, they become inspired and encouraged to the same. Live the way you want to be remembered.
