Fear doesn’t indicate a cowardice.
Hi everyone! I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Most of us have heard people say they aren’t scared of anything, but fear doesn’t indicate a cowardice. If we show up to move forward even THOUGH we are fearful, that displays courage!
Years ago, I took the time to make a list of all my fears. I decided I would keep at it until there wasn’t one more thing I could write. I was surprised how many fears poured out of me. We had three kids at home and as a mom or dad, it seems fear can take on a whole new role in our lives. Later, our family was in a house church with other families. One time the adults, teens and children took turns shooting hoops and with each shot, the person had to call out a fear they possessed. The game went on for a long time with person after person shooting the ball and yelling out a fear. We then gathered and prayed for each other to have courage as we moved forward, even in the midst of fear. Shooting a ball doesn’t take fear away. However, voicing the fear aloud and sharing it with others can diminish it. Fear can’t hold us back if we don’t give it permission. Repeat after me. “It’s ok if I need to speak to a professional about the fears I have.”
There are 365 Bible verses concerning fear – one for each day of the year! Psalm 56:3-4 says, “When I am afraid, I will trust you. I praise God for his word. I trust God. So I am not afraid. What can human beings do to me?”
Live the way you want to be remembered! See you next time.
