It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Merry Christmas, everyone! I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. A Christmas song says that it’s the most wonderful time of the year, and it is, but there is also a lot of stress and sadness that can be associated with it. We fit in many additional activities and expectations of ourselves and others that can strain relationships and introduce exhaustion to already overloaded days. Don’t get me wrong, celebrating Christmas is wonderful and I love celebrating with my own family.
Let’s remember, though, there are many who are experiencing heartbreak and loneliness in the midst of our festivities. It’s not about changing anything we have planned with our families, but perhaps offering an invitation to those who don’t have family nearby, taking a small gift to a neighbor, or sending cards of love and care. It’s about seeing the brokenhearted, listening to the wisdom of the elderly, or providing a gift card to parents to enable them to purchase a present for their child. Some of you listening may be grieving or experiencing a difficult situation in your life. It may take everything in you to do it, but consider reaching out to let someone know your needs, or to serve someone else in a way only you can do.
Psalm 105:4 says, “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” If we seek the Lord, we will receive his strength which will sustain us both in giving and receiving, and amazing things WILL happen! The gift of Jesus from the Lord to us is definitely an amazing thing!
Live the way you want to be remembered! Merry Christmas! See you next time.
