"Reframing" how you think.
Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Have you ever heard the phrase or idea of “reframing” how you think? Research has shown that our brains have grooves in them based upon negative patterns of thinking the same thing in the same way repeatedly. As the grooves get deeper and deeper, it’s takes us greater effort to change the way we think. However, we all have the opportunity to turn from negative to positive thinking. And the good news is, as we think more positively, those kinds of grooves also become deeper. Research has shown that positive affirmations such as prayer and meditation can aid us in deepening the grooves. Also, expressing sincere daily gratitude aloud can make a significant difference in developing positive grooves within our brains. I suggest you create your own list of positive “reframing” thoughts, but here are a few ideas to get you started.
I am grateful for my home and neighborhood.
I am grateful for the love others have for me and the love I can share.
I am grateful for the many family and friends I have and the relationships we share.
I am grateful for the ability to read and write.
This new pattern of thinking will take time to become our normal way. But every time we practice it aloud, our brains are the recipients of deeper grooves. When we think positively, life becomes a lot more enjoyable!
If we form new habits of speaking our gratitude aloud, amazing things WILL happen! Live the way you want to be remembered. See you next week.
