Life chaos. How does it happen?
Hey everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Recently I heard some people talking about how the Covid crisis had imposed a mandatory rest on their lives. A slower pace and time for true rest had felt good. But in the last year the pace had picked back up. Not only had the pace picked back up, but that life once again felt chaotic.
Life chaos. How does it happen? At what point does life go from being relaxed and enjoyable to hectic and chaotic? If your life feels chaotic, what was the tipping point? What can you pare back to get things more in order, more in the “feel good” range? There will be some weeks that are busier than others, but it is the consistent rushing, fast-food eating, and arriving at-the-last-minute or late kind of pattern to watch for. It is not having time to enjoy reading with your kids, working in your garden, taking the long walks you desire or any of the many wonderful opportunities that are lost when we are on full-speed ahead.
One Scripture to help us assess what the next right step is, is found in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Jesus invites us to stop and spend time with him. Our souls can receive renewal from him, from his goodness and his mercy. We can feel as though we’ve taken a long, cool drink of water on a scorching hot day, being refreshed and restored.
Live the way you want to be remembered! See you next time!
