Words to SPARK your Heart-Song – Episode #111

June 27, 2022

We have excuses for not doing what we’re called to do.

Hi everyone. I’m Sherry Douglas with Heart-Song. Recently I’ve been reading Scripture account about an experience Moses had with a burning bush. Moses went to examine the bush that wasn’t burning up although it was on fire, and as he approached, he heard his name being called. It turns out that God was calling Moses so he could explain the mission he had for him. Moses was to rescue millions of people from slavery. That’s a task we cannot imagine, especially without the use of social media and other technology to coordinate something so magnificent.

I encourage you to read this account that begins in the Old Testament book of Exodus 3. It turns out that Moses gives a lot of excuses to God for not wanting to carry out his assignment. As you read it, you will notice how very much you and I are like him. Even though we’re most likely not given such a huge task, we have excuses for not doing what we’re called to do.

What has been on your mind to do that will make a positive impact in someone’s life? What have you been thinking about for a long time that you keep putting off? What excuses have you used? I can think of something I have thought about for at least six months. I’ve used time, lack of energy, and a lack of same-minded people for support as reasons to not get started. What about you? What have you felt called to do, but have found reasons to not do it? Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Let’s rely on the truth of that verse to respond to the call we have on our individual lives. Tomorrow, Tuesday, is a big day! The winner of the Dare to Dream Dollars initiative will be announced. And as time passes, you will get to see how one person’s dream, and their willingness to make it happen, will impact a lot of people! Live the way you want to be remembered.

See you next time.
